The Minister of the Environment announced this Monday, October 27th, some determinations to resolve cases of blocked access to beaches in Grândola and Algarve by tourist developments, such as new car parks, without committing to the solutions being ready before summer.
The solutions presented mainly involve the construction or requalification of existing access points, the construction of new public parking lots and, in one case, the relocation of the beachfront closer to the access.
According to Minister Maria da Graça Carvalho, in relation to the closed accesses in Grândola “everything that will be done has been determined”, and it is now necessary to wait for the installation of new municipal bodies, although the issues were already “resolved with the previous president of the Chamber”.
“[Com] everything that requires design and work, we cannot guarantee that it will be completely ready before the bathing season begins. Things take time, works take time in Portugal, but they have not yet been decided. The decisions are made, in Grândola they are made”he said, during a session to present the balance of the 2025 bathing season, held at the headquarters of the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), in Alfragide, Amadora.
