The resigned prime minister announces the possibility of approving the budget before the end of 2025 to avoid the dissolution of the National Assembly.

The outgoing prime minister Sébastien Lecornu ruled out an early election in France this Wednesday and assured that the president Emmanuel Macron will be able to appoint its new head of Government in the next 48 hours.

Lecornu, in a televised interview, explained that “there is an absolute majority in the National Assembly that rejects the dissolution.” “I feel that it is still possible to find a way,” he added.

The reason? Several parliamentary groups are willing to agree on the budget before the end of 2025 and find a way out of the political crisis without the need to call early elections.

The prime minister left the Elysee Palace after briefing Macron on the final negotiations held over the last 48 hours.
