“It was appropriate and expected, being the beginning of another fight that we will have so that PSP professionals do not continue to be discriminated against in many matters and so that we are heard”, he said, highlighting that “the next initiatives will have an increasing meaning”.
Next week, the National Police Union (Sinapol) will carry out a series of street actions to draw attention to the problems of the PSP and the Independent Union of Police Officers (SIAP) will organize a silent protest in the parliament galleries on October 27th, when the discussion of the State Budget for 2026 (OE2026) begins.
Paulo Macedo added that these protests will have the support of several PSP unions, as happened today, in which the demonstration was organized by the SPP, the second largest PSP union, but included other police union structures, namely Sinapol, SIAP, Autonomous Police Union Association (Asapol) and Police Union for Order and Freedom (SPPOL), the last two without the right to negotiate with the Government.
The National Association of Guard Officers (ANOG) promised to be present at the protest with the MAI, but the journalists did not see any leader of this structure, despite Paulo Macedo guaranteeing that they were present at Praça do Comércio.
As part of the meetings that the Minister of Internal Administration began at the beginning of the month with the PSP unions and GNR associations, the SPP will meet with Maria Lúcia Amaral on Monday.
“These meetings are not yet part of the negotiations. It is a social dialogue that we have maintained”, he said, regretting that the Government has not included in OE2026 “the investment that is very necessary” for the PSP.
