Walk Day Volunteering

The ALR relies on Volunteers throughout the entire walk planning process.

Before the walk, volunteers assist us with securing sponsorship and in-kind donations, serve on the walk planning committee, and captain family or corporate walk teams.

On Walk Day, everything from hanging up signs to greeting collecting registration forms is a great help.

Hereare some of our Walk Day Volunteer needs. Do any of these sound like you?

The Early Bird Muscle Crew: I like getting up early, and want to help by unloading trucks, moving tables, and hanging signs - while earning the undying gratitude of the ALR Staff. (6:30AM - 8:30 AM)

The Smile Crew: You can count on me! I can help with checking-in walkers, directing participants,or distributing prizes. (8:30 AM - 10:15 AM)

The Rest Stop Crew: I'd love to hand out water and goodies to our Walkers. (9:30 AM - 11:30 AM)

TheDay's EndMuscle Crew: I can aid in the breakdown of the walk site, including taking down signs, returning tables to storage, etc. (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

Note that the ALR asks that volunteers be flexible, as our needs often change on event day. We will do our best to accomodate volunteers who require shade or other considerations.

If you've already registered for the Walk:
Send an email to walks@lupusresearch.org, or call our Toll Free Walk Hotline 866-WALK-ALR (925-5257).Let us know that you're already registered - if you have your Walker ID#, please include it in your message (or have it handy if you call).Also tell us what you would like to do on Walk Day, and whether you have any accessibility requirements. Include the best way to reach you too!

If you haven't registered for the Walk yet:
Register Online and select "Volunteer" when you get to the "Participation Type" screen.

If you register by fax, phone, or mail, be sure to include "Walk Day Volunteer" and preferred duties somewhere on your registration.

Someone from the Walk with Us to Cure Lupus office, either ALR staff or another Walk Volunteer, will be in touch with you about Walk Day. We look forward to working with you!
